On December 5th, the 3rd Shanghai Jiaotong University graduate student "Academic Star" selection activity ended successfully. The selection began in September. Experts identified 23 candidate students from the evaluation of academic achievements, academic innovation, and academic level. After the expert communication review and on-site defense, 10 "Academic Star" winners were selected. Fanghui Liu, a doctoral student of the laboratory Professor Jie Yang, stood out and won the "Academic Star" award.

      His research interests include statistical machine learning and computer vision. He covers the study of approximation theory of learning algorithms, the study of similarity learning algorithms, and the application research in the field of target tracking. Currently, he has published 4 articles (T-NNLS, T-IP, T-MM, T-CSVT) and 2 CCF A conference papers as the first author. He is a reviewer for eight journals and was awarded the title “Outstanding Reviewer” by Pattern Recognition. In the defense session, Fanghui Liu briefly introduced the basic situation of the individual, and then introduced his own research content and representative results from three levels: theory, algorithm and application. Finally, he reviewed the honors and rewards he received during his Ph.D. and looked forward to the future academic path. After the report was over, the judges exchanged ideas on their interests and recognized Fanghui Liu's work.
