PhD student Fanghui Liu's academic paper 《Random Fourier Features via Fast Surrogate Leverage Weighted Sampling》 and Ph.D. student Wei Liu's academic paper 《A Generalized Framework for Edge-preserving and Structrue-preserving Image Smoothing》 were accepted by AAAI 2020.

      Fanghui Liu's paper proposed a fast surrogate leverage weighted sampling strategy to generate refined random Fourier features for kernel approximation. Compared to the current state-of-art method, this strategy is simpler and more efficient.

      Wei Liu's paper proposed a non-convex non-smooth optimization framework to achieve diverse smoothing natures where even contradictive smoothing behaviors can be achieved.
